Cleaning hot tubs is the best practice for ensuring your hot tub time is pleasurable. How often and in what manner you clean your hot tub will depend on three factors: how often the spa is used, what type of chemical program do you use, and the filtration that the manufacturer provides.

  • Program There are multiple chemical programs to use with each one having different clarifiers.
    • FROG @ease by Frog products.
    • Broadcast by numerous manufactures.
    • Generators
      • NOTE: all the above products can provide Chlorine or Bromine.
  • Test your hot tub water at least once a week.
    • Test strips
    • Digital meter
  • Treat your hot tub water accordingly based on the readings from the test strips or meter.
  • Clean the filter every week with water from the hose or sink sprayer. Check on the cover and wipe down with a mild soap and water. 303 Protectant is a nice cleaner & conditioner.
  • Drain, clean, and fill
    • Once every three to four months if using a broadcast or FROG @ease.
    • Once a year if using a generator. 30% drain and re-fill will extend the life of the fill.
      • NOTE: Do not use any detergent on the filter. This will cause a tremendous amount of foam.
